Moving towards action for ending GBV - What Young Women Want!

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) violence against women – particularly intimate partner violence and sexual violence – is a major public health problem and a violation of women's human rights. Global estimates published by WHO indicate that about 1 in 3 (35%) of women worldwide have experienced either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or non-partner sexual violence in their lifetime.

Our Zoom discussion was held on Tuesday, 07 July 2020, with panelists Lerato Morulane (SA), Rugare Shalom Zimunya (Mw), Marylize Biubwa (Ke), Catherine M'seteka (Zm) and Mariah Onyango (Ke). It was an opportunity to hear from young women from the SADC region on what can be done to address GBV in their respective countries.
