We had the bloody conversation at the SAAIDS Conference!

The 9th SAAIDS Conference, held in Durban from 11-14 June 2019, hosted around 3000 delegates from all over the region.

During the course of the conference, the Sex Rights Africa Network utilised the AIDS Foundation of South Africa stand to gather signatures for the petition for free sanitary wear for all, led a march demanding free sanitary wear, and hosted a MHR-related satellite session.

The Sex Rights Africa Network hosted a satellite session at the conference on Thursday 13 June. The session covered the links between HIV and menstrual hygiene management and rights, aiming to answer questions on the linkages between HIV infection risk and MHR, and why economically and environmentally ethical sanitary wear is critical to eliminating GBV.
