Up Close and Personal with WHO Director-General Candidates

From Women Deliver

There are six candidates vying for the esteemed position of Director-General of the WHO. It is more important than ever to know where they stand on fundamental issues like maternal, sexual and reproductive health and rights, the role of adolescents and young people, gender equality, and gender mainstreaming throughout the entirety of WHO.

Many people look to Women Deliver to be a strong voice for girls and women, to promote cross-cutting dialogue, and to inspire commitments at all levels. It is in this spirit that we asked all six nominees a series of pointed questions. Their responses – sometimes safe, sometimes surprising – can be found at: bit.ly/theNextDG

We hope through this interview series, that you'll get to know the candidates and champion those you most believe in. We are optimistic that whoever is appointed will continue to push for increased investments in the health, rights, and wellbeing of girls and women. We've come too far to turn back now.
